Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has worked as a chef, TV host in America and a teacher at Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host who has spiky blond locks and a lively personality, explains how you can cook dishes that are restaurant quality at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell also has worked in several of the city's most prestigious establishments, learned about Italian food, its culture and traditions as well as participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, living in the the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for managing restaurants when she received the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." I was never able to learn or do enough. After graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian way of life and its culture which has had an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens children living with difficulties. She also serves as an Juvenile diabetes research foundation Celebrity Ambassador where she is an advocate for juvenile diabetes awareness. She frequently travels around the United States in her position as a mentor as well as a an invited speaker, where she talks about her career and love of cooking. Anne, throughout her entire cooking journey, has said that it is a privilege to be able to be able to share this love of life with others.
