Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh was born in Portugal and Colombia However, she later returned to Scotland when she began her career on the stage at The Edinburgh Festival. At the age of 16, she moved to London where she became involved in filmmaking in the indie genre. (Her first paid gig in The Acid House was as a stoner with Irvine Welsh (1998)). Also, she's been involved in theatre as both an actor and director. Moving to Los Angeles in 2004 brought new theatre opportunities and productions, including "The Woolgatherer" and in which she was the director Anne Dudek (a regular on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006)) as well as David Dayan Fisher (a regular on 24 (2001)/NCIS (2003)) to excellent reviews. Her first US film role was "Stacy" as the manipulative, born again Christian, in Headspace (2005). It was in the role of wild "Thumper Wint" in the comedy Sex and Death 101 (2007) (Simon Baker and Winona Ryder), from Heathers (1988) writer Daniel Waters, that the critics began to take note of her talent, noting the unique combination of strong sexuality and irreverent comedy. She was a part of both LA and London, Exam (2009) was next, BAFTA-nominated as Outstanding British Debut and winner of Best Independent at the Santa Barbara Film Fest, the film's critics noted Pollyanna's performance was "smart and sassy at the same time. ....the emotional heart of the film" They praised her ability to uncover the "emotional vulnerability" of her seemingly powerful and tough character. GQ stated that Pollyanna McIntosh, an outstanding actress and performer, is "extremely talented". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ), is an South American comedy in which she plays the unhappy wife of Trevor Lock, a Brit comedian. Filmed in Peru and she is Spanish all the way. John Landis directed Burke and Hare (2010). She is Isla Fisher’s bestie, along with Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry and Tom Wilkinson. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011), in which she played the lead role in received rave reviews at Sundance 2011. It also came in top of the New York Times' readers' top movies poll. In recognition of her work, she was awarded three Best Actress awards, including Total Film's Frightfest Award and Fright Meter's.
