Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was the daughter of actors Melissa D. Canaday (New York City) and Edward James Hyland (New York City). When she was just four years old, she started in the industry by doing voice overs and commercials. Private Parts was her first film. She then moved on to The Object of My Affection (1998) and then spent time on Another World (1964) as "Rain Wolfe" who was a child that was found in the park, and cared for by Josie and Gary. Sarah would be working with Amy Carlson ("Josie") a few more times: Falcone (2000). Law & Order (1990). Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was selected as one of the young "Audrey Hepburns" in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) the same year she was also cast in the role of "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999) which starred Kathy Bates, Audra McDonald, Alan Cumming, Victor Garber and Kristin Chenoweth. Also, Joe Gould's Secret (2000) and Falcone (2000). Sarah has studied voice in jazz, tap and hip-hop as well as film and TV work. Sarah, a New Yorker, also performed as an invited performer with her tap and theatre dance classes at "Reel to Real" Lincoln Center. After being taught at home by her mother, she attended a public schools until the second grade. She was admitted to PPAS in 6th grade. The school was where she was until she graduated in 2008. When Sarah reached the age of 18 then she moved to Los Angeles, CA and within two weeks was flying with a pilot named "My American Family". When she was picked up, the name was changed to Modern Family (2009). To date, Sarah portrays "Haley Dunphy" the eldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) won numerous awards, but the most notable was the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
