Rosamund Pike

Born in London in 1979, Rosamund Elizabeth Pike is an actor. She is the sole child of a classical violinist mom Caroline (Friend) as well as an opera singer father Julian Pike. Because of their work, she spent her early childhood traveling around Europe. Pike was born in Bristol and went to Badminton School. She then began acting at National Youth Theatre. While appearing in a National Youth Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first spotted and signed by an agent. However, she continued to study at Wadham College, Oxford, where she studied English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper second grade honors degree.Pike appeared in a number of UK television shows which included Wives and Daughters (1999) after which she made an impressive movie debut as the glacial beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another Day (2002); when the film debuted it was released at just 23. Her first film was a large-budget action movie. But her subsequent films were mostly independent films like Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). In 2004, she won the Best Supporting Actress prize at The British Independent Film Awards. Pride & Prejudice (2005) featured Pike as one of the Bennet girls. Following the action movie, Doom (2006) and the thriller Fracture (2007), Pike attempted a brief stint in Hollywood film. She then returned to smaller film and starred in some impressive performances in three movies: An Education (2008), Made in Dagenham (2010) as well as the leading role alongside Paul Giamatti in Barney's Version (2010). In 2012, Pike portrayed the role of Andromeda in the sci-fi epic Wrath of the Titans (2012). Alongside Tom Cruise as her female role in Jack Reacher (2012), she returned to action films.
