Amanda Tapping Bio

Amanda Tapping, a British-Canadian actress and director was born on 28 August 1965. She is best known for playing Samantha Carter in the Canadian-American military science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe. Tapping also appeared as Helen Magnus in the science fiction-fantasy television series Sanctuary. When she was three years old, Tapping, who was born in Rochford (Essex), England relocated to Canada with her family. She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute, where she was a star in Environmental Science and Drama. When she was done in 1984, she decided to concentrate on Drama, attending the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario Tapping is married to Alan Kovacs and they together live in Vancouver, British Columbia. [13] 14The couple has a daughter. Tapping has one daughter, with Kovacs. Tapping has been open about the difficult experiences she has undergone through the miscarriages she suffered through her marriage with the hope that her story would help other miscarrying women feel less isolated. Tapping has two siblings living, Richard and Christopher; a third brother, Steven who was suffering from epilepsy and often unpredictable seizures, passed away in December 2006 of causes that have not been disclosed by the Tapping family
